Dear School of the Arts Patron,

We are delighted to welcome you to the Friends of School of the Arts website. Friends of School of the Arts (SOTA) is an all-volunteer, charitable, not-for-profit organization founded in 1992 that supports the School of the Arts mission. We provide funding to promote the academic, artistic, and humanistic success of SOTA students and to ensure that need never limits opportunity. Whether it is musical instruments, costumes, dance shoes, art supplies, special lessons, registration and competition fees, field trips, or emergency assistance, Friends of SOTA quietly offers critical support to these talented and deserving students.

One of our biggest ‘asks’ is for field trips and professional performances. Many families of SOTA students do not have extra money to support their children in the same way that the surrounding non-high-needs school district families do. Last year Friends of SOTA provided $4910.00 just for field trips and professional performances. Without financial assistance from Friends of SOTA, our students would miss out on these same opportunities. To take it a step beyond, Friends of SOTA helps propel students toward their dreams by awarding annual scholarships for them to continue their education and create their own path forward. Last year, we awarded $15,700 in special scholarships to nineteen very deserving seniors.

For those of you unfamiliar with our organization, we welcome your interest, questions, and potential donation. To those of you who have already supported us whether financially or as a volunteer, we thank you. Every monetary donation, large or small, is very much appreciated by Friends of SOTA but most importantly by the students who have benefitted from your generosity. Furthermore, every moment of volunteerism is equally welcome and immensely valuable to our organization. It’s quite simple, we raise money, and we give it away to deserving SOTA students. And we need your help.

With gratitude,
Allison Bosworth and Lisa Kasdin
Co-Presidents
